So what exactly are the differences between the Jeep Cherokee Active Drive I and Active Drive II systems? The Active Drive I 4x4 system includes a rear axle disconnect feature that only engages when necessary for improved fuel efficiency. It also comes equipped with a Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System, providing you with all-weather capability in four modes: auto, snow, sport, and sand/mud. A standard Brake Lock Differential is also included.
The Jeep Active Drive II 4x4 System includes all of the features that come with the Active Drive I 4x4 system, but adds a low range for overall added capability. It also has a neutral mode for flat towing behind an RV.
