Towing Tech Features

With the 2019 Ram 2500, you won't be left hanging. Take a look at some of these available features that will make your tow job even easier.

360° Surround View Camera

The 360° Surround View Camera with Trailer Reverse Guidance View makes it much easier for you to back up and estimate tight spaces, as it uses five cameras to give you a complete 360-degree view so that you don't have to worry about blind spots.

Trailer Reverse Guidance View

This function helps you back your Ram 2500 up to your trailer effortlessly. You won't have to guess the amount of space you have the next time you go to hook up your trailer.

Bed Lowering

Towing is made even easier with Bed Lowering Mode. This mode enables you to bring the rear suspension to its lowest position for easier trailer hook-up.

Important Towing Terms to Know

Towing terminology includes many acronyms that can get confusing at times. Take a look below at all of the important towing terms you should know.

GCVW

GCVW stands for Gross Combined Vehicle Weight. This is the total combined weight of a fully loaded vehicle. This includes passengers, payload, and everything in tow.

GVW

This is the Gross Vehicle Weight. This is the total weight of a fully loaded vehicle, including passengers and payload, but not towing.

GTW

Gross Trailer Weight is the total weight of the trailer, plus all of the cargo that's in it.

Curb Weight

Curb weight is the weight of a vehicle without any passengers or cargo, but including all of the necessary fuel, fluids, and standard equipment.

Axle Ratio

The axle ratio is the ratio between the revolutions per minute (RPM) of the driveshaft and the rear axle. Generally, a higher number means more towing power; a lower number means better engine efficiency. Higher axle ratios also offer more towing power and quicker acceleration, while lower axle ratios offer better engine efficiency and quieter running.

Trailer Tongue Weight

Trailer Tongue Weight is the downward force exerted on the hitch ball by the trailer coupler. In most cases, it should fall between 10 to 25 percent of the Gross Trailer Weight (GTW).
